What is this part that broke off my car jack?

I was using my car jack recently and this small piece broke off. I have no idea what it is or how to fix it. Any advice would help a lot .

Thanks for sharing this here! If you’re asking for help, don’t forget to include details about your car like the year, make, model, and anything else that could help people give you advice.

That’s a grease fitting, sometimes called a zerk fitting.

Just make sure not to confuse it with something else… like a valve or other fitting.

@Skyler
Yeah, they have different uses. Grease fittings are specific for lubrication.

You can get tools to remove broken zerk fittings easily. Check your local hardware store.

Thanks, I’ll look into that.

It’s a grease fitting. It helps keep the pivot points of the jack lubricated. You should replace it so your jack doesn’t wear out.

I found replacements for a couple of bucks at my local hardware store. Easy fix!

Grease fittings like this are often overlooked, but they’re important for keeping your tools in good shape.

I never knew I was supposed to grease a jack. Learned something new today!

Grab a small tool like a screw extractor to remove the broken piece, and you can screw in a new one.

This is a grease fitting for lubricating parts of the jack. You can keep using it for now, but replace it soon.

Got it, thanks for the heads up!

It’s there to help lubricate moving parts. Replace it when you get a chance so your jack works properly long term.

Just remove the broken piece and put in a new fitting. They’re pretty cheap.

How did this even break? Usually these are pretty sturdy.

I might have been a bit clumsy using the jack… not sure how it happened!

This is why maintaining your tools is important. Keep them greased to avoid issues.
