I just got handed a separation agreement, but the accusations they’re making against me aren’t even true. I want to fight this and maybe even get my job back if possible. Has anyone been through this? What are my options for pushing back?
That’s tough. Did you get a chance to fully read the agreement yet? Sometimes there’s tricky language in there.

I’ve gone through parts of it, but I’m not sure what everything means. It’s kind of overwhelming.

You should definitely have a lawyer check it out before signing. Some of these agreements can really limit your options.
If the accusations aren’t true, start gathering proof. Things like emails, reviews, and anything else that supports your case.

I have a few emails that could help. Should I be focusing on building a timeline of events too?

Yes, timelines are super useful. It shows exactly what happened and when, which can make your case stronger.
Have you talked to your union rep about this? They might be able to offer some help or advice.

I did, but they told me to hold off on doing anything for now. Not sure if I should wait though.

Unions are good for support, but don’t rely solely on them. Having your own legal help is really important.
Is there any chance of negotiating to stay at the job? Sometimes separation agreements are a starting point, not the end.

I hope so. I’d rather work something out than deal with all of this, but I don’t know if they’ll budge.

It’s worth asking, but be ready in case they say no. Have a backup plan just in case.
You should reach out to an employment lawyer ASAP. They can tell you if this counts as wrongful termination or something else.

That’s probably the next step. I don’t want to accidentally make things worse by signing something I shouldn’t.

Smart move. A lawyer can also help you figure out the best way to clear your name.
