Hey everyone, I’m thinking about buying a Speed Queen washer and need some advice on how the TC5 stacks up against the TV2000.
I want a strong machine, and I noticed that the TV2000 has a mechanical control board compared to the electronic one in the TC5. Is the TV2000 worth the extra cost, or can I rely on the TC5?
Just a side note, a local appliance shop has the TC5, so I’d be supporting a small business if I buy from them. For the TV2000, I would need to order from a big corporate store.
Also, I currently have a Whirlpool top-load washer without an agitator that is around 9 years old. It still works well, but it’s become really rusty around the tub and lid. It’s like a truck that’s been through harsh winters. The rust has even started staining our clothes.
Both models have the same drive system, including the motor and transmission. You mentioned that the TV2000 uses a mechanical timer while the TC5 uses a control board. The warranties are also different. The TV2000 has a 3-year parts-only warranty with no labor coverage, meaning you pay for any labor if something goes wrong. Plus, the TV2000 doesn’t have a water level switch; it always runs as if it’s a full load. On the flip side, the TC5 offers a 5-year parts and labor warranty, so anything that happens during that time is covered. It can handle half or full tub loads. As for the control board in the TC5, I’ve only had to replace a couple in all the ones we sell.
