So I was thinking… there are people who are called ‘ugly’ by society, but they seem to embrace it and even make a name for themselves, lol. Anyone know of people who have turned being called ugly into something positive? Share your thoughts!
Lol, yeah, ever heard of Godfrey Baguma, aka Ssebabi? Dude literally won a contest for being the ‘ugliest man’ in Uganda. Instead of hiding, he became famous for it! He’s now a comedian and entertainer.
@Yukijane
Lmao, that’s wild. I love how he just owned it instead of letting it get him down. Confidence is key, I guess!
Michael Berryman is another one. He’s been in tons of horror movies because of his look, which some people might call ugly, but it totally works for him in Hollywood, lol. He’s made a career out of it.
@Alden
Right? I saw him in The Hills Have Eyes and thought, wow, this guy took what some people might see as a disadvantage and turned it into his thing. Lmao, that’s goals.
Haha, I remember Maison Sere from Zimbabwe. He won a ‘Mr. Ugly’ contest. People were like, why would anyone want that title? But he didn’t care, he was like, whatever, I’m winning this. That confidence though!
@Zyan
Lmao, yeah, people really had mixed reactions to that contest. But hey, he took it in stride. It’s like beauty standards are so different everywhere.
Lol, then there’s Jocelyn Wildenstein. She had so many surgeries to look like a cat, and now people call her ‘ugly.’ It’s insane how she became famous for it, though.

Lmao, true. It’s like, at some point, she just embraced the whole ‘catwoman’ thing. She’s definitely unique, I’ll give her that.
Lizzie Velásquez is another one. People were so cruel and called her the ‘ugliest woman in the world,’ but she turned around and became a motivational speaker. Like, lmao, she’s more successful than the people who bullied her.
@Emerson
Omg, yes, Lizzie is such an inspiration. She didn’t let the ugly comments stop her at all. She’s out there killing it in life while her haters are probably just scrolling Instagram, lol.
