No, it doesn’t seem like that. It honestly feels more like someone’s just wasting time. I also wondered if maybe I pissed someone off and this is their way of getting back at me. I live in Tampa, and we just went through back-to-back hurricanes, so I thought maybe it was something connected to that. But really, I have no idea.
Since no money’s involved, this might just be a prank. Before Facebook, people would sign others up for junk mail or weird catalogs. Maybe this is just a new version of that, but more annoying.
Is it possible the ad doesn’t even exist? Maybe the scammer just shows people a fake screenshot to send them to your house, trying to see if you’re home or not for a robbery.
Do you think the scammer figures out where the buyer lives and robs them while they’re busy at your place?
