I’m having a bit of a meltdown here . My task manager shows I have 32GB of RAM, but only 15.5GB is usable. I’ve tried changing the XMP settings in BIOS and rearranging my RAM sticks in every possible way. For context, I have an Aorus B450 motherboard and Corsair Vengeance 2x16 RAM. I’m so lost… any ideas on what I can do?
Check your motherboard specs for memory requirements & placement. How many memory slots do you have? Try using 1 stick at a time.
I have 4 slots! Should I be using specific slots?
Yeah, for a 4-slot board, you might need to use specific slots like 1 & 3. Good luck!
Try getting HWInfo64 to see what it says, or maybe consider a BIOS update? Do each of your sticks work individually?
I ran HWInfo64, and it shows both memory sticks. Nothing seems out of the ordinary. What should I look for?
I would try each stick solo to confirm they both work. If they do, updating the BIOS might help.
Check if the XMP profile is correctly enabled. Sometimes that can mess things up.
But how would I update the BIOS without a USB? I looked into that. Also, if I check one stick and it doesn’t work, would my PC just not boot?
Yeah, if a stick doesn’t work, the computer won’t boot. You’ll need a USB for the BIOS update, but they’re pretty cheap.
Thanks for all the help! I’ll be back shortly.
Okay, I just switched the sticks around, and my PC is turning on, but my monitor isn’t displaying anything.
Your PC is getting power but not posting. That can happen with a faulty component. Check if the sticks are clicked in properly and refer to your mobo manual for recommended slots.
