Why is my employer's Google Meet killing my CPU... anyone else having this issue?

I’ve been having a rough time with Google Meet at work lately. My CPU usage goes through the roof! It’s been super laggy, and I keep getting those annoying ‘your system load is too heavy’ messages. I’ve done some maintenance on my Dell Latitude laptop, but it’s still a mess. Anyone else tried to fix this? I could really use some tips.

How many people are on each call? Is your video on too?

There are 2 people on each call and both have video on. I’ll check the settings, thanks!

Sounds like your hardware might be struggling. Have you checked your video quality settings?

I haven’t looked at those yet. I’ll check and update.

Google Meet can be a resource hog. My old laptop did the same thing!

Yeah, mine gets super loud during calls. It’s like a little jet engine.

What do you mean by resource hog? Is that bad?

It means it uses a lot of your computer’s power, making it slow.

You might want to try uninstalling and reinstalling Google Meet. That helped me once.

If all else fails, you could switch to using Zoom for your classes. It might be kinder to your CPU.
