Helloguys,
I’m having a frustrating issue with my photos losing quality before I even post them on Instagram. I take high-resolution photos on my phone (and sometimes on my DSLR), but once I transfer them to my phone and open them in the Instagram app, there’s a noticeable reduction in quality – even before I upload! The photos look pixelated, blurry, or just less sharp overall.
Preview is bugging recently but actual posts are fine
I’ve heard they lower the quality after a few weeks or months, depending on how many likes the post gets. I’m not sure if that’s true though.
Make sure you’ve checked the “Upload at highest quality” option in your settings.
It’s just the preview that looks bad. The post will be fine as normal.
Instagram compresses your images when you upload them, which reduces the quality. They do it for efficiency.
I recommend cropping any photos you want to post to IG’s default resolution/ratio. The auto compression and resizing it does is almost always terrible when viewed in the app.
What phone are you using? Instagram is resizing the photo and seems to be adjusting the quality during that step. Try pre formatting the image before upload and see if that helps.
This has been driving me crazy for a year now! I can’t believe they haven’t fixed it yet. It’s so frustrating!!!
