Would a giraffe and elk hybrid really work?

Maybe you’d be interested in an okapi. It’s kind of like a mix between a giraffe and something else.

Yeah, I know what an okapi is. They’re pretty interesting, for sure.

@Merrick
Exactly! Nature has already given you that with the okapi.

I was hoping for some giant giraffe with huge antlers. Kinda disappointed.

@Jasper
Don’t feel let down. Okapis are pretty amazing and super rare. They’re actually an endangered species from Central Africa.

It’s not possible. Giraffes have 62 chromosomes, elk have 68. The genetics just don’t match up to even start fertilization.

Mixing their genes in a lab might be possible in the future, but natural breeding? No way. They’re just too different.

I’d call it a girrelk.

Wait, does it really need two 'R’s?

Giraffes do have two 'R’s in their name.

Geoffrey would approve.

Haha, true. Unless it’s Geoffrey Robbin’ Giraffe.

No clue, but Joe Rogan would probably want to try eating it.

Imagine a chunky giraffe with grand antlers. That’d be wild.
