Anyone else having issues with IEP guidelines not being followed? This is so frustrating

So my employer tested my special needs students without following their IEP guidelines and used their scores for my teacher rating. As a result, none of my students passed, and now my overall rating is affected. It’s such a mess, and I’m at a loss for what to do. Anyone else going through this?

That’s really messed up! I had something similar happen. I tried talking to them about it, but they didn’t seem to care. Did you have a similar experience?

Exactly the same. I even spoke to my principal, and they just dismissed it. It’s so frustrating when they don’t follow the rules!

@Finley
It’s like they don’t understand how important those guidelines are. I don’t get how they can ignore them so easily.

Ugh, I feel for you! This stuff can totally mess up your rating. Have you considered speaking to a lawyer about it?

I was thinking about it! I don’t know if it will help, but at this point, I don’t see many other options.

@Remington
It’s worth looking into. A lawyer might be able to give you some clarity on your rights here.

Sorry you’re going through this. I had a similar problem and ended up having to escalate it. It wasn’t easy, but I think it helped. Have you tried that?

I’ve tried escalating it to administration, but they just don’t care. It feels like I’m hitting a wall every time.

@Remington
That’s rough. If they’re ignoring you, you might need to take the next step. Legal action could be the way to go if nothing else works.

Did you try refusing to sign your final evaluation? I did that when something similar happened to me, and it helped me feel like I had some control over the situation.

I actually did! I refused to sign it because it didn’t reflect my teaching, but now I’m worried about the consequences of doing that.

@Remington
It’s a tough call. Hopefully, it doesn’t hurt you in the long run. Maybe getting legal advice could help clarify things for you.

This seems like a breach of contract. You might want to look into sending a demand letter or consulting with a lawyer. It’s important to know your rights here.

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking too. They definitely didn’t follow the IEP, so I think I’m in the right here. Have you used a lawyer for something like this?

@Remington
I’ve used a lawyer for similar issues before, and they were able to help me get things sorted out. I can send you a template for a demand letter if you need it.
