So, I came across this quiz on renewable energy stuff like solar, wind, and even tidal power. It’s actually pretty cool, but some of the questions had me stumped. Anyone else give it a try? What’d you think?
Yeah, I tried it! Had no idea tidal energy depended on the moon and sun. Thought it was all about the waves lol.
Right?? I thought the same thing! Tides and waves seem similar but apparently work differently.
Haha, glad I’m not the only one confused! I had to Google it.
Yeah, gotta be careful about that. Biofuel crops shouldn’t replace food.
Right?? Apparently, microalgae is big in biofuels. Crazy stuff.
What’s microalgae tho? Just tiny algae or something special?
Basically, yeah! It’s a type of algae that’s small but has a lot of oil, which they use for fuel.
Anyone else surprised that Norway runs on almost 100% renewable energy? Makes me wanna move there!
For real! I thought only small countries could pull that off, but Norway’s massive.
True! Norway has a ton of water, so they use hydropower a lot.
Anyone else get stumped by the question on PV cells? I said plastic, but it’s silicon apparently.
Same here! Thought it was something cheaper like plastic too. Guess it’s silicon because it works better for converting sunlight?
Yep! Silicon is super good at conducting electricity, which is why they use it.
Did y’all see that question on geothermal energy? Available 24/7… kinda cool it doesn’t rely on weather.
That was wild! I always thought all renewables were weather-dependent.
Yeah, geothermal just taps into the Earth’s heat, so it’s always there. Pretty amazing!
I thought wind energy was best in mountains, but it’s apparently better on coasts? Anyone know why?
I think it’s because coastal winds are more steady. Mountains can mess with wind flow.
Makes sense! Coastal areas don’t have as much blockage as mountains do.
