I’m on the hunt for a business partner. I went to a business meetup recently, but it felt like everyone there just wanted to pitch me their stuff instead of actually connecting. Where do you all go to find real potential partners? Any specific events or online platforms you’ve tried?
Depends a lot on the type of business you’re in and what stage you’re at.

I’m aiming to find someone who’s got experience in B2B sales, or at the very least, someone who’s a solid salesperson.
@Taran
The folks pitching to you at the meetup might have some B2B experience, right? They were pitching to you, after all…

Not really. It was mostly tech people, gym trainers, and some content creators. Most of them were employees, not business owners.

Thanks. That platform looks good, but I’d prefer someone local in Chicago so we can work closely at the start.
@Taran
Go for remote if you can. You might find it works out even better in the long run.

People from everywhere sign up for Y Combinator. Just set a region filter when you look.

I’ve got experience in sales and want to start a business aimed at US companies, but finding a partner has been tough.

Honestly, maybe think twice about having a partner.

If I focus only on sales, I’d lose sight of building the team and managing the company. With my experience, having a few reliable partners covering different areas just makes sense.
I’m in SEO. Met a friend on Fiverr about 7 years back. We started by sharing work and ended up launching an SEO agency together. Now we’re full-on business partners, and he’s been amazing.

That’s awesome. I teamed up with a former coworker after a failed startup, and our skills clicked. Fiverr, Upwork, or even Reddit communities can help you meet like-minded people. Trust and shared skills make a big difference.
@Hayes
Yep, totally agree.
LinkedIn is a great place for this.
I came across this platform recently. It says you can find business partners there. It’s similar to LinkedIn but a bit different. They also have an AI assistant that helps you find and understand potential contacts.
