Anyone know if updating the DHR with new info slows down a case?

I called DHR yesterday to get an update on my case and the officer told me it’s still being processed. I submitted it last November! I’m thinking about giving them more info, like the FOIA findings from the DOL, where they found my old employer guilty of wage theft. Also, the Workers’ Compensation Board is charging them with fraud and discrimination. But I’m not sure if updating DHR with this stuff will mess up my case. Anyone have any advice?

Hmm, I’m not sure, but I’d definitely send the new info. Seems important.

Yeah, it seems like it could help my case. Just don’t want to complicate things with the DHR since the WCB is also involved.

I don’t think it would hurt. The DHR and WCB deal with different stuff, so they shouldn’t drop your case.

Did you ask DHR directly if it would slow things down? Might be worth clarifying with them.

Good idea, I’ll reach out and ask them. I need to know if my case will still move forward.

What’s FOIA? I’ve seen people mention it but not sure what it means.

FOIA stands for Freedom of Information Act. It lets you get access to government records, like the ones that showed my employer’s wage theft.

Oh got it, thanks for explaining!

I had a similar case with the DHR. Updating them with new info actually sped things up for me.

That’s good to hear! I was worried it would drag things out longer.

I think as long as you keep them in the loop, it should be fine. Better they have all the info.

True, I’ll send the update and see what they say.
