Are my drone batteries still safe to use after this?

No, don’t risk it.

Better safe than sorry, mate.

Yeah, definitely a spicy situation.

I wouldn’t take the risk. To avoid this in the future, don’t leave them fully charged for long periods.

What’s the best level to store them at? Asking for a friend who’s totally new to this. Definitely not me.

@West
For most LiPo batteries, don’t let them drop below 3.2V per cell in use. For storage, aim for about 3.8V per cell. For DJI and similar drones, that’s usually around 40%.

So it’s better to store them at ‘storage’ charge levels instead of fully charging? Makes sense now that I think about it. It’s been raining here for days, so my batteries (I mean my friend’s) are just sitting around.

Isn’t voltage just the flow rate? Shouldn’t it be about watts instead?

@SteveGrant
Nope. Voltage doesn’t show capacity directly, but it does indicate the charge level of the battery.

@West
About 50-60% charge is good, roughly 3.7V per cell.

They don’t look safe to even touch.

Definitely not safe to fly.

Spicy pillows alert.

Wait, ‘spicy pillows’ is actually a thing?

Those are basically little bombs now.

Two batteries gone bad? That’s full-on chaos.

Keep clear of spicy pillows.
