Best way to switch my Social Security deposit to a new bank?

I just opened a new bank account and need to update my Social Security deposit to go there instead of my old account. Anyone know if it’s easier to do this online, by phone, or in person? Trying to avoid any issues!

You can totally do it online! Just go to ssa.gov and log in to your ‘my Social Security’ account. It’s pretty straightforward.

Is that site safe to use for stuff like bank changes?

@West
Yep, it’s the official Social Security site, so you’re good to go!

If you’re not into online stuff, you could call them directly. They’ll help you switch your info over the phone.

Do they pick up fast, or do you end up waiting forever?

@Jesse
It can vary. I’d say call early in the day to avoid the rush!

Or you can go in person to your local Social Security office. Just check their hours first!

Is visiting faster? I might do that if it avoids hold times.

Depends, but sometimes it’s quicker than calling! Just avoid peak times if you go in.

Doing it online is probably the easiest if you’re comfortable with it. No waiting in line or on the phone!

Good call, I’ll try online first. Thanks for the help!

I did mine online last month. Just have your new bank info ready and it’s super fast!

Perfect, I’ll have everything ready before I log in. Thanks for the tip!
