Hi everyone, I need some advice. I’m 25 and bought my first home just three months ago, and now I’m suddenly out of a job. I was doing alright, managing my bills with an £800 monthly mortgage, but now I only have enough savings to last about two, maybe three months. Any tips on what to do or how to get by? Thanks!

You could try a mortgage holiday, but that’s really a last option if you can’t find work soon.

Switching to interest-only could help for a bit without hurting your credit.
@Charlie
Since you’re just three months in, interest-only won’t save much. It’s still worth considering though.

True, but anything that buys some time is worth thinking about.
@Charlie
Yeah, could give you extra time to job hunt. Maybe also consider renting out a room.

Be careful, it could affect your credit score. Last resort, really.

Check the mortgage charter options; those might not hit your credit.

True, ‘mortgage holiday’ sounds casual, but it’s a serious choice.

Holiday temp work in a supermarket can help for a couple of months while you search for something permanent.

Royal Mail might be a bit better if you’re looking.
@Blake
Applied there once during my unemployment. Took forever to hear back, after the temp contract would’ve been over.

The paperwork for Christmas jobs is intense! Students and others get hired, so I get why.

Honestly, if you’re introverted, avoiding coworkers can be a plus.

Haha, this might be the most ‘forum’ comment today!
@Mai
Some retail coworkers make you want a quiet shift, for sure.
