They’re keeping Diddy locked up even though he offered huge amounts of money for bail. It’s mostly because they think he’ll scare witnesses, and there’s also the risk that he might take off. He once blew up a guy’s car just to send a message. It’s like something out of a mob movie. He didn’t do it himself, but just ordered it to be done. So, couldn’t he still have people make threats, blow up cars, or pressure people from inside jail? I don’t know much about how communication works in jail, so I’m just asking?
He’s denied bail for three main reasons:
-
They’re worried he’ll try to mess with witnesses.
-
He’s a big flight risk. They even thought his flight from Miami to New York was a way to run off before getting arrested.
-
They don’t think he can be controlled under house arrest.
All communication in prison is recorded. He’d have to be crazy to make plans or threats from inside. That doesn’t mean he hasn’t smuggled in a cellphone or something, but the courts won’t ignore anything that links back to him.
@Zion
Yeah, sneaking a cellphone in is no big deal for someone like him (they’ve gotten bigger stuff in before).

Haha…like smuggling in a boiled egg?
He knew the risks of getting caught when he was doing what he did. If he had plans for any kind of hit or threats, it was all probably set up long before he was locked up.
All communications are monitored, but crime bosses have run operations from inside before. John Gotti did it. When a crime boss gives an order, they don’t say it outright. It’s usually very subtle—a nod, a short phrase. The person taking the order knows what it means and takes the fall if they’re caught. That’s why it’s tough to prove a boss gave the command.
@Whit
You mentioned John Gotti like he still had power in there, but it’s been said the Aryan Brotherhood extorted money from him for protection. The inside is not like the outside. If Diddy gets put in with the general population, he’ll be a target. He’d have to rely on someone else to pass messages.

Rich inmates usually get protection from the guards.
Like Epstein’s ‘protection’ from guards?
@Whit
Hopefully, there’s too much attention on him for anyone to carry out any “suggestions” he makes.
Hits can definitely be ordered from inside jail. Happens more than you’d think.
He could, but it’d be stupid. Everything’s monitored, and he’s on 24-hour suicide watch.

Prison has its own ways of communicating, using little notes called ‘kites,’ and they use code language. He’d have to be really dumb to say anything straight up, especially on a call. There are people who act as runners to get messages out. So, yeah, if he wanted to order a hit, he could do it. Happens all the time.
@Tavi
He wouldn’t need to do all that. His lawyer visits aren’t recorded, so he could just tell his lawyer, and they could pass it along. Doesn’t have to say it outright, just hint at it enough. Shady lawyers do it all the time and know how to get away with it.

But still, it’d be stupid of him.

He might be stupid, but he’s been getting away with stuff for years, hasn’t he?
Even if he orders hits, it won’t do him any good. The Feds already have evidence. He’d have to kill tons of people and destroy federal records. No way that’s happening. He’s done for.
Don’t underestimate someone like Diddy. As long as he’s alive, he’s dangerous.
He’s been accused of ordering hits before, and now he’s more desperate than ever.
He’s allowed 300 minutes of monitored phone time a month.
He probably had a plan ready. I don’t think he’d be obvious and say, ‘Go blow up so-and-so’s car tomorrow.’ They’d have code phrases. Unless he was so confident he thought he’d never get caught.
