That’s an awesome shot. Love the detail.
Did you use any reflective tape or just the strobe? I’ve heard people debating which works better.
This was originally shared on another forum, but I’m happy to share it here too.
The hawk looks fierce… great capture.
This picture is great. I used to fly a Skydio 2+ on Atlantic Beach (Long Island, NY) and had oyster catchers attacking my drone all the time. I ended up selling it. Now I’m considering a DJI Air 3s. Do you think a strobe would work against those birds?
@Zaden
That’s cool! I’m in Farmingville, so not too far from you. The Air 3s is a solid drone, but compared to the Mavic 3 Pro, it’s a bit of a step down. With the RC Pro controller, the Mavic 3 Pro feels like a totally different class. Still, DJI makes good stuff all around.
@Caelan
I agree. I had a Mavic Pro before upgrading to the 3 Pro, and while the 3 Pro is amazing, it still feels a bit like an expensive toy sometimes.
You should sue the hawk.
This feels like drone vs hawk… or maybe bird conspiracy confirmed?
That hawk’s expression is too funny.

Confused hawk noises
Impressive that you got such a clear shot. Most hawk attacks just show a blur of talons.
Edit: Oh, I saw your video earlier this week. Amazing you got this frame. Glad your drone made it back okay except for some damaged props.
This picture is amazing. Great timing.
I’ve had two hawks go after my M3E before. This shot is awesome.

I’ve had raptors check out my drone too, but they seem to figure out it’s not prey and leave it alone.

What model do you fly? My M3E had some close calls.
@Hart
It’s happened with most of my drones… Mavic 3 Cine, Mini 2, Inspire 2. I can’t remember if it ever happened with the Skydio, but I didn’t fly that one much since it wasn’t my favourite.
The image has an almost surreal vibe. Was the hawk hurt at all? It’s such a striking capture.

Thanks! I think the hawk’s fine. I saw it flying around the next day.
