I splurged on new clubs after seeing Jason Day’s crazy birdie putt back in 2016. Not sure if they’ll fix my game, but at least I’ll look like I know what I’m doing.
I’m a caddy, and I have to say your club setup is stressing me out.

Help a newbie out! This is my first real set that didn’t come from a discount store. Any setup tips?

Put your woods up top, then work down with your irons and place your wedges at the bottom. It’s not just about the look—it actually balances the bag better if you’re carrying it.
@Andi
Haha, never seen anything like that before!

Interesting setup, for sure!

I walk mostly, but when I have to use a cart, I strap the bag in sideways. I keep the woods and putter up top, irons in the middle, and wedges at the bottom. Makes it easier to grab clubs without fussing with the order.
@Val
Not a fan of putting all the tall clubs at the top! When my bag’s on a cart, I’d rather have easy access to the putter without wading through the long clubs each time.

Having them in that order protects the shafts better when you’re carrying the bag around.
@Thane
I get the point, but honestly, I’ve never had an issue with clubs getting damaged just from how I set them up.

Well, it can happen gradually. You might not notice right away, but it could lead to wear and tear on the shafts over time.
@Thane
People I know who broke shafts were usually doing something reckless, like hitting rocks or swinging too close to others. Never seen it happen just from regular carrying.

Classic ‘everyone’s wrong except me’ moment!
@Will
Glad to see your sarcasm is as sharp as my clubs.

Keep the longest clubs at the top, shortest at the bottom. I actually tuck my putter after my 9-iron, but that’s just personal preference.

Agreed with the advice above, but I think your bag design is partly the problem. It’s odd to see the stand legs on the opposite side from the putter well. Over time, those clubs knocking together could cause wear and tear, especially with graphite shafts. Otherwise, nice choice on the set!

This setup really hurt my OCD!
Cleveland clubs for the win! Love the lofts on yours.
