DLSS working on GTX 1650... Am I missing something?

So I’ve got this GTX 1650 and to my surprise, DLSS seems to be working on games like Cyberpunk 2077, Spider-Man, AC Mirage, and more. I thought DLSS was only for RTX cards? Did I just luck out with a special 1650 or am I missing something here? Here’s the system info: [link to imgur]. Anyone else experience this?

The GTX 1650 is based on the same Turing architecture as RTX cards but with the Tensor cores disabled. So DLSS normally doesn’t work. You might have a rare one where the cores weren’t disabled during manufacturing.

That’s wild. I had no idea this could even happen. It’s a Gigabyte card so I guess I owe them a thank you? lol

Yeah, sometimes manufacturers goof up and we get the benefit! Nice find, dude.

I’ve got a GTX 1650 too but no DLSS here. Maybe you did get a unique one. Have you noticed any performance issues?

Nope, everything seems to be running smoothly. Performance looks pretty solid compared to my RTX 3050 laptop.

That’s awesome. If it’s working without issues, I’d say keep rolling with it!

I wonder if there’s any way to check for the Tensor cores in software? Maybe something like GPU-Z would show if they’re active?

Good idea, but I think most software wouldn’t detect it since DLSS shouldn’t even be running on this card. But worth a shot!

I’ll try that out! Can’t hurt to see if anything shows up. Will report back if I find anything.

Even if DLSS is working, I’d be careful. It might not be fully optimized for a card like that and could cause issues down the line.

Good point. I’ll keep an eye on it. So far, no problems, but I guess time will tell!
