Employer ignoring my accommodation requests... what can I do?

I’ve been trying to get some accommodations for my disability, but my employer hasn’t been cooperative. I finally got something that works, but only after a lot of pushing and having to suggest the solution myself. Anyone else faced this kind of thing?

That’s tough! They’re supposed to discuss options with you, not make you figure it all out alone. Did you report it to HR?

I did, but they only took a few days and said there was no problem. Felt like they brushed it off.

@Shannon
Three days? That doesn’t sound like they took it seriously at all.

If other people are getting help with transportation and you’re not, that’s definitely unfair. Did you ask them why?

They didn’t really say. I just know others get $350 every two weeks, but they told me I was on my own.

That’s rough. If it’s affecting your work, definitely worth bringing it up with someone else, like the EEOC.

It’s crazy that they didn’t engage with you on this. You shouldn’t have to keep proposing your own solutions.

Exactly! It’s like they didn’t want to deal with it unless I forced them to.

@Shannon
Hopefully, the EEOC can help set things right.

Anytime there’s discrimination, keeping a paper trail is super important. Did you document everything?

Yep, I kept records of everything, plus a few statements from coworkers who witnessed it.

Good call on going to the EEOC. They’re thorough and will review the full situation, not just the end result.

Thanks! Really hoping they can help sort this out. It’s been stressful to deal with.
