Every time I switch off my PC (cable connected), my internet connection disappears for around 30 seconds, at least on my MacBook. I haven’t tested other devices yet. I have no router access, and I doubt my internet provider will replace it for free since I already complained about it before. It’s not something you can’t live with, but it’s definitely annoying.
This could be because your PC’s network interface is hanging on to the IP address until it completely disconnects. You could try restarting your router or check the settings for DHCP lease time. A quick power cycle of the router might also help keep connections stable.
If you have an ethernet cable plugged into your PC, you could buy a cheap Linksys router and connect it to that cable. Then you’d have router access.
I had a similar issue. Try checking your network settings on the MacBook. Sometimes adjusting the TCP/IP settings helps.
That sounds really annoying! Have you thought about getting a wifi extender? It might help with stability.
It’s worth checking if your ethernet cable is loose or damaged. Sometimes a simple fix like that can solve the problem.
