External Monitor is Detected but Shows no Display

Hi Everyone, I’m having an issue with my second monitor. I’m using a Windows 10 laptop with an AOC Monitor that has a VGA socket. I’ve got a VGA/HDMI converter in between, and it’s worked fine for ages, but recently the screen went black. The laptop detects the monitor, and I can even move my cursor to it, but I can’t see anything. I’ve tried adjusting resolutions and refresh rates in the display settings, but no luck. When I connect my laptop directly to my TV with just an HDMI cable, it works perfectly. I even tested my sister’s laptop with the same setup, and it worked without issues. I bought a brand new HDMI/VGA converter and tried it, but that didn’t work either. Both old and new converters work on my friend’s laptop. The only thing I haven’t tested is the VGA cable, but my sister’s laptop works fine with it. Anyone experienced this before? I’d really appreciate any help. Thanks for reading this far!

Hmm… could this be a driver issue? Maybe the current driver isn’t compatible with the converter. You might want to try rolling back the driver if that’s the case.

How old is the monitor? Sometimes age can lead to issues like this.

Have you tried connecting another laptop to your monitor with the same setup? If that doesn’t work, it could be a problem with the monitor’s port or screen. You might also try shining a flashlight on the screen while it’s on to see if the backlight is broken.
