Has anyone been charged for missing clinicals after making up the hours?

So, I missed some clinicals because I got COVID, but I already made up all the hours in a makeup session. Now my school is trying to charge me $1200 for the absence. I’ve emailed them about it, but still no response. Has anyone dealt with this before? Any advice?

Ugh, that sucks! Did they mention this fee in the policies? Maybe it’s buried in the handbook somewhere?

I went through the handbook, but I didn’t see anything about paying for missed clinicals if you were sick.

Yeah, same thing happened to me but for a different reason. I had to escalate it to the department head before they took me seriously.

I haven’t yet, but I’m thinking about reaching out if they don’t reply soon. I’m trying to avoid making a big deal out of it, but this charge seems unfair.

You should! Sometimes they won’t do anything unless you go to higher-ups.

Yeah, I sent them everything—my doctor’s note, test results, and proof that I completed the makeup session. Still no word from them, though.

I didn’t see anything specific for COVID absences in their policy. Wish they had something in place for this.
