How to get the best AI models without spending too much?

AI models are super helpful. I’m currently using free versions of multiple ones, but the limited features and usage caps can be frustrating. Ideally, I’d want the paid version for several, but it’s just too pricey for me.

What are your tips for getting the best AI tools at the lowest cost? Maybe pay-per-use models, running open-source options locally, or cloud solutions? Open to suggestions!

Tips for posting and discussing

Here’s a quick guide for anyone posting questions or joining discussions here:

  • Make your posts detailed, at least 100 characters, so others can understand and help better.
  • Search for similar discussions before posting; some topics might already have detailed answers.
  • Feel free to talk about AI’s pros and cons, but keep things respectful.
  • Share links or sources if you’re making claims or arguments.
  • Avoid repetitive questions like whether AI will take over all jobs—it’s a popular topic already.

Try aistudio.google.com—it’s got top-notch models for free.

Meta also offers Llama access on their site and WhatsApp, but they require phone number verification. Also, Poe gives you 10 free queries daily.

Just be mindful of privacy. Anything you use on aistudio.google.com might end up being used as training data.

Definitely check out aistudio.google.com. It’s free and gives you access to some of the best models out there.

Running a good AI model locally might need serious hardware. Plus, your electricity bill might not be pretty after that.

I mix and match. I use OpenAI’s API, OpenRouter, and local models through Ollama. I run smaller models on CPUs and medium ones on GPUs. I also use OpenWebUI for managing everything. For convenience, I keep a ChatGPT Plus subscription, and I grabbed a cheap deal on Perplexity AI for six months.

You can use private prompts that keep evolving on their own. Think of it like creating a self-running game where you set the rules, and the AI keeps improving its answers based on your goals.

Also, use high-quality local models as much as you can to save on costs.

ppq.ai is worth checking out.

You.com is another good option.

If you’re tech-savvy, try Hugging Face for free models or Ollama for local use.

I’d also recommend trying Filipa.ai. It’s completely free and connects you to some of the best models out there. It’s in beta, so any feedback would be helpful to improve it.

@Ray
I’m suspicious of this. The way you’re promoting Filipa.ai feels like you’re just trying to sell something. Your profile has no history, and your photo looks overly polished. Are you really the creator of this AI, or is this part of some larger promotion effort?

@Scout
I’m genuinely the creator. My photo is just a professional one I use for media purposes. I came here to share my project and get feedback, not to scam anyone.

“Sure thing, totally believable…”

beep boop, human detected

@Scout
Haha, I get it. The Turing test has made trust tricky these days. But seriously, Filipa is legit, and I’d love for you to try it out and share your feedback.
