I think I clicked on a phishing email... what now?

I really need some advice. I saw an email about finishing up enrollment in a program I was actually setting up, so I clicked on the link and ended up putting in my phone number, email, and name. I totally should’ve been more careful, especially since I wasn’t wearing my glasses. Now I’m getting constant notifications on my phone from Chrome about all sorts of scams like ‘click here for a stimulus check’ and ‘check out this free money’ and honestly, it’s overwhelming. I’m not clicking on any of them, but they keep popping up, and I’m worried I might accidentally click one. What should my next move be?

First off, change your passwords for any accounts that might be affected. It’s also a good idea to set up 2FA on all accounts that support it, just to add an extra layer of security.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll start changing my passwords right away.

Have you checked if your email or phone number is being used elsewhere? Sometimes it helps to see if there’s been any other suspicious activity.

I haven’t done that yet. I guess it would be smart to look into it. Thanks for the tip.

Also, consider uninstalling any apps you don’t recognize or didn’t install yourself. Sometimes they can be linked to phishing attempts.

Good idea, I’ll check my apps too and see if there’s anything suspicious.

If the notifications keep coming, you might want to reset your Chrome settings or even clear your browsing data. That sometimes helps with unwanted notifications.

I didn’t think of that. I’ll look into resetting Chrome settings. Thanks!

Just be cautious and don’t click on anything until you’re sure everything is secure. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

Absolutely, I’m going to take all the precautions I can. Thanks for the reassurance.
