Hey, I’m experiencing a weird issue with my i9-13900KF. My apps often randomly crash, like Chrome tabs, IDEs, Binary Ninja, and even games. After some investigation and testing, I found something strange. Whenever I set process affinity to either core 8 or core 10, the program crashes instantly with Binary Ninja. Other programs also crash eventually when using these cores. I discovered this by noticing that setting affinity to random cores sometimes fixed stability issues, systematically testing which cores caused problems, and finding that cores 8 and 10 consistently create issues. Has anyone encountered something similar? Should I just RMA this processor through Intel warranty? It seems off to disable two cores on a high-end CPU.
I just started the RMA process for my 13900K, which I’ve had for 18 months. If you read about the issues with these processors, the problems just get worse. Just get rid of it and stop gaslighting yourself like I was.
RMA it. It already cooked itself.
Intel’s 13th and 14th gen CPUs are known to have issues. RMA it. More cores will likely follow this problem. If you get another 13th or 14th gen, make sure to update your BIOS to fix the underlying issue before using it.
I have a similar issue with my 12700KF, but I don’t think I can RMA it. It’s frustrating.
That sounds rough. Have you tried any fixes, or is it just a waiting game for you?
Submit an RMA for it, as everyone else has stated. In the meantime, check that your BIOS is up to date. I bet there have been updates for your board over the last year, especially with changes to Intel microcode.
I’ll definitely check the BIOS. Thanks for the tip.
