I’ve been unemployed for about 10-12 weeks now, filing for unemployment while waiting on an appeal. I just want to know… if I start a job before they pay me my back unemployment benefits, will I lose that money? 
Anyone else dealt with something like this?
I think you should still get the back pay as long as you’ve been filing each week. The benefits usually stop once you start working again though. Anyone else know for sure?

From what I understand, unemployment benefits stop when you start working again, but anything you were owed before that should still come through once your appeal is successful. You just won’t get future weekly benefits.

An appeal is when you ask them to review their decision if they denied your claim. It’s basically your way to say, ‘Hey, I think you made a mistake!’ You should keep filing each week even while waiting for the appeal.
