Long story short, my girlfriend has an iPhone 11 that has no service. She put the SIM card from her old phone into the new one, but that didn’t work either. After trying a prepaid Simple Mobile plan that didn’t work on the iPhone, she switched to Mint Mobile with a new SIM. We called Simple Mobile because the iPhone said ‘SIM locked’, and they said it would take a few business days, but a week and a half later, nothing. We called Apple for help, and they suggested resetting the phone, but now it requires two-factor authentication with her phone number, which has no service. I’m not sure what to do now.
Try putting the SIM into a different phone that gets service. Connect the iPhone 11 to Wi-Fi and do the recovery there. Once that’s done, put the SIM back in the iPhone. If it still says ‘SIM locked’, you’ll need to reach out to the original carrier again to get it unlocked.
That’s a good idea! I’ll see if we can borrow a phone to do that.
Let me know how it goes! If you get it unlocked, that should fix the service issue.
Also, make sure to check if the new SIM is activated properly. Sometimes that’s the issue too.
Yeah, if it’s still locked after all that, definitely hit up the original carrier. They should be able to help you out with unlocking it.
Thanks for the tips, everyone! I’ll get on it and update if we make any progress.
