Is my PC done for... anyone have ideas?

So, I’m not the best with PC components or anything, but I left my PC on overnight, which I know I shouldn’t have done. When I came back this morning, the screen was frozen, and neither my mouse nor keyboard worked. The power button wouldn’t respond, so I had to flip the switch on the back. After turning it back on, the power button still didn’t work, and nothing happens except for a little orange blinking light on my Ethernet cable. I tried some solutions I found online, but nothing seems to work. Do I need to go to a professional shop, or is there something I can fix myself?

Leaving it on overnight usually doesn’t hurt. It might just be a coincidence.

Yeah, on a working PC, that shouldn’t cause any issues. Sometimes people leave them on to check if they’re stable, especially when overclocking.

If it won’t boot, try unplugging it and removing the CMOS battery for about 5 minutes, then put it back and power it on.

That sounds frustrating. The CMOS battery is the coin-shaped one on the motherboard, right? If it’s dead, could that stop it from starting?

Yes, a dead CR2032 battery can definitely cause boot issues. Removing it and the power can sometimes clear things up.

You might want to unplug everything from the back of the PC and just keep the keyboard and mouse connected. That could help narrow down the issue.

I haven’t tried that yet. I’ll give it a go tomorrow after checking the CMOS battery.

Have you thought about checking the RAM? Sometimes reseating it or trying one stick at a time can help.

Good point. Just be sure to look at the motherboard manual to see which slot to use first.

Also, cleaning inside the case can really help. Dust can cause overheating or connection issues.

I’ve already tried cleaning it out, but I’ll check the connections again. Just want to avoid unnecessary costs.

Have you checked if you are still under warranty? If not, maybe try contacting support for troubleshooting help.

I’m not on a warranty anymore; I’ve had this PC for about 3 and a half years. It’s not the latest model, but it does what I need.
