Just found this Jeep… would you go for it at $14k with 136k miles?

Found this little one floating around in town wondering if it would be worth it 136k miles for $14k-$15K

You serious? I wouldn’t pay that much for those miles and age.

It could be a good price, but a few things to check out first. Does it have any history in rough winter areas? Look under for rust and see if there’s any major engine issues. Older ones are simpler to work on, so that’s a plus, but always double-check the value on Kelley Blue Book. Are you using it just for daily driving or do you want to off-road too? Any upgrades or just stock?

I’ll definitely keep these in mind. Right now, I drive a Patriot—it’s kinda unique for a Jeep, but I love it. Looking to upgrade to something like a Wrangler though since I have to get out to rougher areas for work, and the Patriot’s struggling with that. This one’s from the Southeast so less salt, which I was hoping might help.

Try looking up the NADA price, that’s the dealer average for a Jeep with that age and mileage.

Be careful; the torque converters on the W5A580 transmissions can fail around these miles.

Good to know, I’ll definitely look into that, thanks!

Soft tops wear out pretty fast, and 136k is definitely getting up there. If those things don’t bother you, maybe go for it. But I’d think around $12k would be a better price, depending on what’s under the hood and how the tires look.

Yeah, $12k sounds closer. You’ll see early 2000s models around that, while older ones go for $5k to $8k.

The TJ models ('97-'06) are more popular than early JKs ('07-'12). By now, most TJs left are in good shape, while the neglected ones have probably rusted away.

If it’s got the 3.73 gears, I’d say go for it.

Way overpriced! Even worse if it’s from a state with lots of snow and salt.

Lucky for me, it’s always been in the south, so no major salt exposure.

Gotta say, I really like that color, no idea why!

Same here! Been looking for that kind of sandstone yellow for a while now, that’s one reason I’m interested but still deciding.

They probably only paid around $7,000 at auction for this one.

I paid around that for an '07 JK with 80k miles.

I still owe $20k on my 2015 Wrangler Sport I bought two years ago. I’d say go for it if everything checks out; 136k isn’t bad if it’s been taken care of.

$20k left on a 10-year-old car? Yikes.

Yeah, sometimes it’s just like that.
