Hello guys, I have been playing for almost a year and taking lessons for a few months. I am not ready for a fitting yet, but I think I will be in a couple of months.
To prepare, I have looked up the “Most Forgiving Irons of 2024” and found a few that interest me.
My question is: What are the most forgiving irons out there?
My main goal is to reduce bad shots that only go 20 yards, but I also want accuracy and tight dispersion.
The options I am considering are Callaway Paradym X Irons, Srixon ZX4 MKII Irons, Taylormade Stealth (not the HD) Irons, Mizuno JPX 923 Hot Metal High Launch, and the new Wilson Dynapowers.
Does anyone strongly recommend any of these or have other suggestions?
Considering your goals, I’ve heard great things about the Srixon ZX4 MKII Irons for forgiveness and tight dispersion. They’re designed to help reduce mishits and provide good accuracy.
Hey mate, I got fitted today after playing for about three months, even though I didn’t feel ready. It’s crazy how much easier it was to hit the clubs with just a different shaft compared to my regular ones. My 7 iron was going around 168m, whereas I usually max out at 135m. Suddenly, I could hit my 4 iron and was getting about 190m with it. This was with the JPX Hot Metals. I currently have an HL version (just a single 6 iron I bought to test), but I actually get better loft with the regular ones thanks to the fitted shafts.
If your clubs are only 10 years old, getting new ones probably won’t help you drop 10 or more strokes. You might get two shots if you’re lucky. You need to train and play more than once a week.
Ask for “Game Improvement Irons” when you go to a club shop.
