Hey everyone, the clip on the PCIE slot where my RTX 4060 is installed broke. I’ve read that it should be okay since the metal part screwed in the back is holding it in place. The other PCIE slot is x16, but it’s only x4 lane. Am I good to go without the clip?
You’ll be perfectly fine as long as you don’t move your PC around too much while using it.
Pro tip: If you’re moving your PC anywhere far, like up stairs, it’s best to remove the GPU. Dropping it, even a bit, can snap it off. It’s quick and easy to take out!
I had the same issue with my 4090. The clip isn’t necessary, but I recommend getting a support bracket or stand to prevent sagging. It helps a lot!
Thanks for the advice! I made sure the card is screwed in securely. I’ll definitely grab a support soon.
It’s fine as long as it works! Just get a support. You can even DIY it—like use LEGO or zip ties between the GPU and case. Just avoid using metal to prevent shorts.
