Hey guys, I’ve noticed this ‘PresentMon’ process suddenly taking up 25% of my CPU for no apparent reason. I found out it’s related to NVIDIA. After I close a game, this process sticks around and keeps using that CPU, making my laptop heat up until I end it in Task Manager. I couldn’t find any fixes online. Any ideas?
Sounds like the GeForce Experience performance overlay might be the culprit. Try disabling it if it’s on.
Yeah, PresentMon is actually a monitoring tool by Intel for tracking things like FPS and GPU temperature. You might want to check if it’s installed in your startup apps.
If it keeps starting up, check what apps or games are launching it. Sometimes specific games can trigger it to run.
I had a similar issue, and uninstalling and reinstalling the NVIDIA drivers helped. Might be worth a shot!
Just check your task manager for any other processes that might be using resources too. Sometimes it’s not just one thing causing the issue.
