When I got on my PC this morning, I noticed I had no audio. I checked my SteelSeries and found my inputs had changed. To my surprise, when I went to change them back, I noticed that Realtek audio was missing from the options. I checked Windows audio, and it was missing there as well. I first tried updating the driver, which did nothing. Then, I tried reinstalling Realtek audio, but after reinstalling, it completely disappeared from my device manager (including checking ‘show hidden devices’). I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times with files from Realtek, Microsoft, and my motherboard manufacturer (MSI). I even used DDU to wipe anything related to these drivers, but Realtek audio still does not show in my device manager, and I’m left without audio. I loaded my backup Windows partition (barebones partition in case of drive corruption), and Realtek shows up there, and audio works fine. But in my main partition/boot drive, Realtek will not work for the life of me. Has anyone had this issue before or knows a fix? I’m at my wits’ end here.
I could definitely help, but it would be through TeamViewer. I have to check a few things.
That sounds good. What would you need to check?
I’ll need to check your device manager settings and any conflicting drivers. We can also look at the audio service settings.
Have you tried running the audio troubleshooter in Windows? Sometimes it can fix issues automatically.
I haven’t tried that yet. I’ll give it a shot!
Make sure your BIOS settings are correct. Sometimes audio devices can be disabled at the BIOS level.
Good idea! I’ll check the BIOS settings.
