Does anyone else think parking fees for events are getting way out of hand?
I’m having trouble finding tickets for the actual Ryder Cup days. Are they already all sold out?
I see tickets for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, but all other days only have parking passes. Am I missing something here?
Edit: I’m talking about tickets directly from the box office, not resale.
@Darby
I see tickets for Saturday and Sunday too, but they’re around $1,300. They’re all resale tickets, none at face value.

Tickets at face value were $750. A friend of mine just got some for Sunday.

Thanks, that’s exactly what I meant—no face value tickets left. Prices are getting ridiculous.
@Darby
Same here. I clicked the email as soon as I got it, but by the time I got in, only Tuesday through Thursday tickets and some parking passes were available. Everything else is already marked up by resellers.
Hey, that’s premium beach parking! You’re lucky it’s not 10 times more expensive. The guy who owns the lot probably thinks he’s losing money by the second.
But really, these prices are getting crazy.
If people are willing to spend crazy amounts on these events, that’s fine, but it just doesn’t make sense to me. It costs so much just to go! I’d rather stay at home, watch it on TV, and enjoy food and drinks for way less money without dealing with huge crowds.
@Harlan
Imagine paying $2,000 just to see the event through someone else’s phone. Insane!
@Harlan
And there’s the unforgettable live experience of hearing someone yell, “Get in the hole!” Totally worth every cent.

Haha, ‘SMASHED POTATOES!’ I went to one PGA event, and that was enough for me. Way better to watch it on TV.
Can’t you just take the LIRR to Bethpage and walk from there? Seems like a big oversight if they aren’t adding extra trains.

Wait, are the organizers not planning to run shuttles from the train station?
@Darby
They did for the PGA in 2019—had shuttles and didn’t charge for the train if you had tickets.

That’s a pretty long walk.

It’s not that far. I’ve done it myself, carrying my bag. I think it’s about a mile from Farmingdale station.
@Hayden
I remember in 2019, they didn’t allow people to walk. They had shuttles from the train with a security check in between.

Yeah, I’m sure they’ll have shuttles again. Just saying it’s not a bad walk.
Just watch it on TV, enjoy some good food and drinks, and save a bunch of money.

Exactly. Get some top-shelf food and drinks, set up the TV outside if you want that ‘outdoor’ feel.
I went to a TPC practice round once, and while it was fun, there’s no way I’d pay these prices to go live. Plus, once you’re there, you get charged for every little thing. The event I went to was free because it was for military appreciation, so the only thing I bought was a shirt. For that price? I’ll watch from home, thanks.
