Sorry, I misread your comment and another one. I thought you said it wouldn’t be in the cluster.

Internet redemption story, folks. We all saw it.

If I’m wrong or make a mistake, I’ll own it. I’m quick to judge, but I hate when people post bad advice. I’ll always admit when I’m wrong.

@DonaldFrank2
This comment is empty, admin should fix.

My guess is that the stepper motor behind the needle failed.

Are there any fuses or relays I could have burnt?

Could’ve or could have, not could of :ok_man:

The early GM gauge clusters have terrible stepper motors. It’s very possible that’s the issue. You might have just gotten lucky, but you can try to key off and on a bunch of times and hope it resets. Percussive maintenance while cycling could work, but more likely, you’ll need a cluster removal and repair. There are companies that replace these with modern motors.

@Sam
I have an old Camaro that gets stuck like this. I drilled a tiny hole in the cluster and used a safety pin to knock the needle back down when it gets stuck. Been working that way for 20 years, lol.

@Sam
If I remove it, is there anything I can do to get it working again?

If it’s not shorted and just dragging mechanically, clean it with electronics cleaner and apply high-grade dielectric grease to the motor parts. The original grease might have hardened over time.
