Street clearing after snowstorm… How much work is involved?

@Reed
Probably gets tossed in a river

In Montreal, they have massive dumping yards including by the train yard

Now THAT’S a snowblower

Never thought about using a motor grader for this but… pretty cool

Had to be Canada. The US is too cheap to do this, even in places that get a lot more snow

Yea, we clear roads but you’re on your own if you’re pulling into a driveway or parked on the side of the street. You’re getting walled in

@Oswin
Do you mean the US or Canada? In the cities, the Canadians cart the snow away. In New Hampshire, the main reason I have a large snow blower is so I can dig through several feet of plowed snow to get to the road. Worst I’ve had was about 3’ high and 12’ into my drive. That was after a couple feet of snow. Clearing the rest of my 500’ drive took about 40 minutes and digging out the end took about an hour. I had to clear to the left of my drive too so they wouldn’t plow me in again, which they did while I was clearing it. Some cities have wing plows that can plow out driveways, but for $13k/year in taxes I don’t get that courtesy

@Val
Yea, the US. I know exactly what you mean. There’s no point in clearing it because they’ll come by and plow snow in front of it again. Just drive through it, break that snow wall. All you can do really

@Oswin
When it’s a few inches, I could do that. But when it’s a few feet, I have to clear it

Cool

Wow, that’s insane. Never seen an operation that big before

This is not in the US for sure
