This has been happening for a couple of months now but whenever I try to install or update apps on my laptop, I get the error ‘failed to create temporary file: C:\Users\myname\AppData\Local\Temp\InsertFileHere.’ It’s become a real hassle to deal with, and every time I search for help, I can’t seem to find anything useful. Anyone got a fix or tips on what I can do?
You might want to check if your Temp folder has the right permissions. Sometimes Windows messes that up. Go to the folder, right-click, Properties, and make sure your user has full control.
I didn’t even think about permissions. I’ll give that a shot. Thanks!
Try clearing out the Temp folder. Sometimes a bunch of leftover junk can cause issues. Just select everything inside and delete. Don’t worry, Windows will recreate any necessary files.
Oh, I’ll definitely try that. I haven’t cleared it in forever, so maybe it’s clogged up.
If clearing it doesn’t work, you could try changing the Temp folder location entirely. You can do that in the System Properties > Environment Variables. Just point it somewhere else.
That’s a neat trick. I’ll look into changing the folder location if the other fixes don’t work.
Could also be that your antivirus is blocking certain actions. Some security programs are super strict. Try disabling it temporarily to see if that changes anything.
Good point. I’ll check if my antivirus is being overly protective.
