Trouble getting tuition refund after withdrawing my son from private school?

My son recently started at a private high school in Florida, but we had some issues that led us to withdraw him. Now we’re trying to get a tuition refund, and the school’s been difficult to deal with. Anyone else had a similar experience?

Wow, sounds rough. Did they give you any reason for holding back the refund?

No clear reason. At first, they even held onto his passport and didn’t want him to leave. Eventually, they let him go, but now we’re stuck trying to get the refund.

They held his passport? That’s definitely not okay. Hope you get some answers soon!

Have you considered reaching out to the state education department? They may be able to help with private school regulations.

Hadn’t thought of that yet. I’ll keep it in mind if the school doesn’t cooperate. Thanks!

Yeah, sometimes having a state agency involved helps get things moving.

Did you get a chance to look at the school’s refund policy? Sometimes they have strict terms.

We’re reviewing it now, but I don’t remember seeing any specific rules about refunds.

Hopefully, it’s not too restrictive. Sometimes they make it hard just to discourage people from withdrawing.

Keeping all the communication records is smart. Emails, messages… they could be useful if you need to escalate.

Definitely keeping everything documented, just in case we need it later.

Good call. Schools sometimes act differently when they know there’s a record.

It must be so stressful dealing with this from abroad. Hope it gets sorted quickly!

Thanks. Being overseas, it’s been a huge headache. We’re in Portugal, so we couldn’t even reach them at first.

I can only imagine. Good luck with everything. Hopefully, they come through with the refund.
