Why are these birds flying in a circular, cone-shaped pattern? It looks eerie!

Turkey vultures riding a thermal. They can go hours without flapping doing this to conserve energy

They also make circles when they smell something dead in the area. It’s a good indicator of a dead body in a house in rural areas

It’s called kettling!

I once saw a raven pull its wings in while it was flying, do a 360 flip, and then spread its wings out again and catch the air. It was so cool to see a raven just loving life and doing stunts mid-flight

@Jody
I want a pet raven. Wanna teach it to steal money in return for food.

Sounds like they caught a thermal uprising and are just riding the wave.

They catch the wind and just glide around.

I get so jealous when I see them. I have flying dreams, always feel sad when I wake up. I want to go back to the dream and feel that freedom and awe for as long as I can.

Vultures conserving energy by riding a thermal.

Idk what kind of birds they are? But one thing I know they fly like this a little before it rains

That’s an interesting connection! Others have said they ride thermals to conserve energy. I suppose it would make sense for thermal currents to ascend before it rains. Once I saw a video of a cloud just before it started storming, it stretched way up high, like a skyscraper compared to its fellows. Someday I hope to learn all of the things.

Flying. I’m good at this.

Silhouette identification

They urinate on their feet to clean the rotten flesh off of them

The buzzards have finger-like feathers on the tips of their wings they smell something and are circling

They are eagles :eagle: zoom in on then the wing tips are not finger like
